LifeStar Ambulance Service, Inc. Centralia, IL

Lifestar Ambulance Service, Inc.
Centralia Illinois was established in 1973 and was the first of our divisions in
central and southern Illinois. We provide emergent and non-emergent ambulance
service to residents in the following towns in Marion, Clinton, Washington, and
Jefferson counties in Illinois. We are the 911 A.L.S. ambulance provider for
Centralia, Sandoval, Patoka, Walnut Hill, Hoffman, and the surrounding rural
areas. Along with providing 911 service we also provide interfacillity
transports between hospitals and to and from doctors appointments (in Centralia
only). Our fleet consists of 5 ambulances and 1 wheel chair / car service
vehicle.
We function under the protocols of the North Egypt EMS System based at St.Mary's
Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt.Vernon, IL. This is a very advanced and
progressive EMS system that in recent years has been overhauled to meet the
needs of the community and the types of transports that are occurring. Along with
the medications and procedures that we already carry and perform on the
ambulance we are also able to administer and continue more advanced medications
and procedures between hospitals under our new Interfacillity Specialty Care
protocols. This was done in response to the required specialized care that is
available at larger hospitals and greatly reduces the amount of time it takes to
get an injured or ill patient from the hospital they are in to a specialty care
hospital a little further away. Due to our close proximity to St.Louis most of
our interfacility transports go there.
Due to this need for further care and the critical nature of some of these
transports we have implemented our "critical care unit". This ambulance
functions the same as the rest of our units but with added resources to better
care for our patients. This unit carries our own I.V. pumps designed for
transport, 12-Lead EKG monitoring, non-invasive blood pressure monitoring, and
on board ventilator. This unit has the ability to transport two critically ill
or injured patients at the same time while allowing to bring along enough staff
to care for both patients at once. This unit has a built in diesel powered
generator to meet all of our power requirements for such a transport and the
ability to take family members along if anyone wishes to go as the unit is
designed to carry more people than a standard ambulance. Please take a look at
our pictures page to see photos of our equipment.
